I don't like their list. RP is there strictly because of the advertising. Also, they shouldn't have Cubans on the list at all. Why make a top 10 list with cigars that are illegal to have in the States? I personally don't care for the DC Maximus - if ever there was a stick I would describe as remarkably mediocre, that would be it.

On the best bargain sticks, I agree with all of them - although I think they overlooked the Gran Habano #5

CA has readers outside of the US so the Cuban cigars pretty much have to be included. For me I think it's like when California wines started getting some street cred against French wines - the #1 spot has been a non-Cuban for at least the last 4 years, as has most of the Top 25 list. If the Cuban snobs take stake in CA then this should knock a bit of the wind out of their inflated heads!

As far as the list goes, I like a couple of the cigars but was very surprised that some were included and others were not. I mean, the Ambos Mundos made the list but no other Tatuajes did? So that AM is the best thing Pete is putting out???? Come onnnnn.....

And then this happened http://www.c4cigarclub.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=533...
I've never been an RP fan but had an Olde World Reserve in my humidor from a bomb I'd received. Since it made the #8 spot I decided to try it out today, as you can see in the other post it dyed my hands dark brown - not like a bit of pigment coming off the leaf but like I was staining furniture.

I always like to see what CA says but can't put much stake in their ratings based on my own experiences compared to their list. Oh well, the anticipation and the ensuing debate on Twitter was fun.

CA is an American publication, right?
I understand there are readers outside the U.S. that don't have the same restrictions we do, but they could at least divide the list between Cuban and non-Cuban.

Cigar Advertiser is usually pretty wrong in their assessments, but just like all specialty magazines, it boils down to whoever pays the most in advertising gets the best reviews. Car magazines, wine magazines, gun magazines, etc are all the same. I canceled my subscription to "4 Wheel and Offroad" when they listed a Lexus as the best 4x4 of the year.
